Meet Rayne

Rayne Reitnauer grew up in a US Navy family. Born in California, she has also spent time living in Virginia, South Carolina, Washington, and Connecticut. She lived on base at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard, Naval Weapons Station Charleston, and Naval Submarine Base New London. After marrying Kerry, a PA native, she moved to the beautiful countryside of Hereford, PA in 2005. She is the proud mother of two children and four dogs. After working as a Veterinary Technician for several years, she founded the Cold Nose Lodge Dog Center in Alburtis, PA in 2008. In 2022, she founded the Pet Career Training Program (PCCTP) which is a free career preparatory program for 14–16-year-olds, giving them a head start for future careers with animals.

  • AAS in Veterinary Technology from Northern Virginia Community College, 2004

  • She has also completed Purdue University’s DOGS course and the Canine Training and Management Program at Kutztown University.

Career

  • Founder of Cold Nose Lodge – Alburtis, PA

    Seeing a need in our community, Rayne established a facility to provide dog daycare, boarding, and training. The business continues to grow, with a new store, and classroom opening in 2024. Through the Lodge, Rayne has fostered over 500 dogs for local rescue groups.

  • Licensed and Certified Veterinary Technician/Dog Trainer/Vet Tech – VA and PA
    Also active in animal welfare and rescue and served as the Public and Community Relations Coordinator for Loudoun County Animal Care and Control in Virginia.

  • Video and Webcast Production – Washington, DC area
    8 years in video and web cast production with clients such as MTV, NASA, Exxon/Mobil, AFSCME, SEIU, IAFF, and Defenders of Wildlife. She was a member of CWA (Communication Workers of America Union) in 1997-98.

  • Rayne is a 2019 Leadership Lehigh Valley graduate. She was recognized by Lehigh Valley Business Women of Influence in 2022. In December 2023, Rayne graduated from the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses Program held at Philadelphia Community College. She is a Certified Professional Animal Care Operator through PACCC and a certified Fear Free Professional.

  • She is a contributing author of Success Reimagined: Inspiring Stories of Local Leaders.

  • Rayne holds memberships in the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce, International Boarding and Pet Services Association, and the Pennsylvania Veterinary Medical Association.

  • She runs a committee for the Owners of Dog Daycares annual conference (ODD Ball), recruiting and scheduling speakers to educate those in her industry.

Other Fun Facts

  • Rayne’s paternal grandparents lived in Uniontown, PA. Her great-grandmother had a “crick” out back. Rayne first shot a gun when she was 8 years old, aiming at cans by the crick.

  • Her great-grandfather was a coal miner, but he passed away from Black Lung the year before she was born.

  • Both grandfathers and several uncles served in the military. One grandfather was a fighter pilot and the other a sailor.

  • Entrepreneurship runs in the family. Rayne’s maternal great-grandfather owned a barbershop, and her maternal grandfather owned a Mobil station.

  • Rayne’s mom was a nurse, and later managed the uniform shop on base.

  • Rayne’s stepmom was an elementary school teacher in Connecticut.

  • Rayne has one brother, one stepsister, and one stepbrother.

  • Rayne and Kerry adopted their two children when they were infants. Both were born in South Korea.

  • Rayne was named after a character in the book Rosemary’s Baby, but the spelling was changed to match her brother’s middle name, Wayne.

  • Rayne first went sailing when she was less than two months old and has continued to sail regularly throughout her life.

  • Rayne has gone skydiving – and enjoyed it but never went again.

  • Rayne served as a Judge of Elections for Hereford Precincts One and Two.
